Dear Mr. Steve,

I have recently upgraded my PSR3000 to the ver. 1.54, I just like to thanks Yamaha for this superb news that PSR3000 system is upgradeable, now I would like to request a feature for a future upgrade, is it possible to quantize while recording in real time (I know that you can quantize in step time record mode) I am strictly talking about "real time quantization" while recording in real time (in song recording mode), this feature is available in all Korg arrangers, Roland arrangers, Technics arrangers (I have used them all) it is only missing in Yamaha?? In all those arrangers it let you choose the quantization setting after you arm the track for recording (or before starting the recording or you can simply choose no quantization) and everything is simply in perfect order. I do not know if much people use it, but while in the recording mode I really do use this feature extensively... Please let me know if it is a possibility in future upgrade? would really appreciate a response from you even if it is not possible.

Thanks and Regards.

I have passed along your request. I seriously doubt whether this can be done, but we'll have to wait and see.

Wow great quick response! That's one reason why I've bought Yamahas for the past 10 years...

Steve, if you're still listening... any plans to bring back the 8 little input wheels beneath the screen like we had on the PSR-4000/8000? I for one liked those much better than the buttons on the 9000 & 9000PRO, input was quicker and seemed more natural...

Don, I don't have a clue, but I know who does, and I will pass it along.

Dear Steve,

I am also very happy that the keyboard is upgradeable. Since I never use the sequencer functions, I would like to know if it is possible to associate the TRACK 1, TRACK 2, AND EXTRA TRACKS buttons with the functions every ex-PSR2000/2100/740 owner is missing:

Effects On/Off
Vocal Harmony On/Off
Echo/harmony On/off

Do you think this is possible? You could press DIRECT ACCESS and then one of these three buttons and there would be an option for assigning these buttons to on/off buttons for these three settings.

What do you think?

Here is a request that I know will make a lot of eastern European customers very happy... It would be great to be able to see the lyrics that contain Cyrillic characters (while playing .KAR files). Is this feasible?

Regarding my request, it would probably be more feasible to program the keyboard to receive sysex messages for these functions so that they could be activated via a midi footswitch.

Maybe you could create a MFC10 page for the keyboard.

Beaky,

While I will pass along your comments, an MFC10 page seems highly unlikely to me. It may be that this is the last update we'll see. I've already recommended a fix for this Voice Effects situation. I've recommended that the Voice Effects be handled just like the [Channel On/Off] and [Balance]buttons. You get what I call the mini-mixer view at the bottom of the screen that remains until you choose one of the other modes. I'd also like to see one of the three mini-mixer views assignable as default, so that when you hit the exit button when you're already on the Main display, the mini-mixer view goes back to your assigned default. What do you think? Would this be a practical approach?

Make no mistake, my recomendations mean nothing without customers who are like minded. Even if you ask for it, you might not get it, but you certainly wont get it if you don't speak up.

Steve

Dear mr.Steve,

It is very great that u are listening us.
I recently bought psr 3000.I found one thing is very small but very disturbing that
whenever we record even a single note each time the display shows warning about losing
data if the power is swiched off.Ooohh it is
very annoying and the only solution is press
the exit button. This does not happen in
my psr2100.Pleeaasse try to remove this unwanted warning.Steve please do reply. Thanks.

Steve,

Thank you enormously for your concern and your response to this problem, probably the only gripe past PSR2000/2100/740 owners have about this amazing keyboard.

On future models, the only real solution is to have dedicated buttons for the most commonly used functions - like TALK ON/OFF, HARMONIZER ON/OFF, ECHO/HARMONY ON/OFF, and EFFECTS ON/OFF.

As far as OS updates, I think that your idea is excellent.

I have another good idea. When the bottom of the LCD is set to BALANCE, button #8 is not being used. That button could be dedicated to TALK ON/OFF. I think the TALK ON/OFF is the most glaring button absent, because it makes it difficult to insert a stray remark into one's performance.

Let's say I'm performing for a dance, and a couple is doing a marvelous job, I love to be able to press the TALK button in the middle of the song and say, "Let's give a hand for the dancers." There are many other situations, where it is essential to be able to quickly get rid of that reverb to say something.

So I see your solution as the best. Assigning button #8 to one of the desired functions is second best. Enabling the keyboard to receive sysex or other midi messages to get these functions to kick in is also a good solution.

Whether or not I buy the successor to the PSR3000 in a year or year and a half, will depend a lot on whether this issue is resolved.

Thank you again, and Happy New Year.

Beakybird
